I am afraid that I have not managed to get a F-D-M-idget comic finished in time this week. I did make one, but it looked simply rubbish, so I canned it and tried again. It was getting there, but then ran out of time. I don’t want to upload really horrible stuff, so I decided this week to leave it. Don’t worry though, it will be back next week!
Also you will notice the old website theme is back! Why? Read on:
Despite the fact the new site theme functioned better in places, it looked bland and boring. And for some reason I could not find a way to make it look more fun, without it looking completely naff.
There were also some background performance issues that were causing the site to load slowly. Not to mention a series of bugs that kept getting in the way of usage. I found far too much of my time was spent trying to kick the theme to do what I wanted. It’s a shame as it had a lot of functionality I liked, but I now realise I can get that same functionality a different way.
So, the new theme eventually got abandoned. I am so glad it did in the end though. Although we still have lots of creases to iron out in the old theme, it feels like I’m home again!
I have also had to acknowledge that I have been quite disorganised just recently. I still don’t have half the stuff on the site I wanted to put here, and have been putting myself under pressure because of that. In many places I have been trying to run before I can walk, and have to accept that things are just going to take a bit more time than I first thought. It’s a kind of release when you accept that you have flaws you have to work with, and make allowances for those flaws.
I took a very big bite and was struggling to chew it all!
So, rather than trying to do it all at once, I have now written down and plan of what I want to do, and broken it down into smaller, more manageable tasks and goals. Having it all on paper has helped a lot, and means I can write and forget until I get to that part of the plan.
So, draw a line under it, and move forward!
